Why is the NBA better than College Basketball?
The atmosphere at an NBA game is better than the atmosphere at a College Basketball game.
Ok right off the bat let me set the record straight and make this disclaimer........if you are between the ages 18-22 and you sit in the student section while attending College Basketball games than you don't even need to read on because anytime you sit in the student section of an NCAA game the atmosphere will prolly be better.
But the fact of the matter is that most of us do not fall into that category...........so let's face it the college atmosphere for those of us not in that category can be pretty bland.......and that's to be expected because nobody at college games are being paid to entertain........the only ones there who are trying to entertain the crowd other than the players of course are the cheerleaders
While at an NBA game every NBA team has a paid staff who's soul purpose is to make the NBA atmosphere an entertaining and enjoyable experience for everyone from beginning to end.........right from the get go the introductions at an NBA game are as explosive as can be.............during Time Outs the fans are kept very involved and there is always something going on......whether it's some kind of game or highlight going on on the jumbo tron......or everyone's favorite.......the Kiss Cam..........and then at halftime the NBA has a tendency of turning into a circus type atmosphere.
I mean even the PA Announcers in the NBA make a name for themselves........seriously where in College are you gonna get this type of atmosphere?
now you throw in all the different campaigns, color schemes, giveaways, bobble heads, and playoff themes and the atmosphere at an NBA game is TOP NOTCH
I mean just look at the celebrities that grace the NBA's atmosphere with their presence........this, this, and this ................meanwhile this is what you get at NCAA games lol and occasionally this.
now inevitably some of you all will say well I don't care about any of that nonsense entertainment stuff.........and that's because you are a boring fuddy duddy college basketball fan HAHA
and last let's look at the venues........the NBA features some of the best arenas in the world.........Madison Square Garden, Amway Center, Staples Center, United Center, TD Banknorth Garden, and Fed Ex Center........many of these arenas are brand new featuring state of the art everything........all kinds of entertainments........bars, buffets, lounges, stars, shopping malls all kinds of things..........while the majority of college arenas are either fairly old or built off of the school budget and will feature more practical things rather than all the glitz and glamor that come when a city builds an arena
and so the better atmosphere at an NBA game is just another one of the many reasons why the NBA is better than College Basketball

NBA vs. NCAA IV
Whys is the NBA better than College Basketball?
The NBA's Regular Season is more important than the NCAA's Regular Season
Most people will scoff at the notion that the NBA’s Regular Season is more important than College Basketball’s Regular Season. Mainly because they look at the comparison close minded and just throw it out due to the fact that the NBA has so many games. However you really have to dig a little deeper.
In the Regular Season both the NBA and the NCAA are basically playing for the same exact thing either to get into the postseason or to get good seeding for the postseason. Now the basis of my argument is that in the NBA postseason seeds are far more important than NCAA postseason seeds.
It’s been said before that when it comes to the NCAA tournament the seeds are very overrated and I couldn’t agree with that assessment more. Especially after you get out of the first weekend. And ESPECIALLY once the Final Four begins. I mean let’s say for example that Ohio State ends up playing San Diego State in the Final Four. OSU being a 1 seed and SDSU being a 2 seed. So what exactly is the advantage of being the 1 seed if your Ohio State……..that coveted 1 seed of which they worked SO hard to get……well let’s see the Buckeyes would get to wear their home whites……and I guess they would get to sit at the home bench and maybe even use the home team locker room once they get to the Toyota Center that sounds like a pretty big advantage and a SUPER reward considering all their hard work that went into the season……..all though I’m not sure how much wearing the home whites of Ohio State is going to help in winning a ball game……Imagine if the NBA just decided to tell the Bulls well we know you guys gutted it out and worked EXTRA hard this season to get that #1 seed….but we’re gonna go head and have the Eastern Conference Finals in a neutral site……but hey tell you what Tom Thibodeau you guys can still wear your Home jerseys.......sound good……yea right……how pissed would the Bulls be…….I imagine they would say……wow all that hard work all year long for nothing…….those Regular Season games weren’t as important as we thought.
Both the NBA playoffs and the NCAA tournament are the same in the sense that it’s a very difficult tournament and you are gonna have to win a handful of games against some very good teams no matter what seed you are……and unlike the NFL there are no byes…….of course the first round in the NBA and the first two rounds in the NCAA are usually easier if you are a higher seed…….so I will say that the higher seed matters a little bit for the first couple of rounds…….all though again if you can’t get past the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament than you prolly don’t deserve a shot at the Championship no matter what seed you are. So again I am a strong believer that seeds in the NCAA tournament are one of the most overrated thing in sports.
Here’s the difference with the NBA and the reason the Regular Season is more important. In the NBA you aren’t just playing for numbers in front of your name……you see those numbers actually mean something. They stand for home court advantage, and home court is soooooooooooo big come playoff time.
Take the Miami Heat for example…….sure they are gonna make the playoffs we know that much like we knew that Notre Dame was gonna make the NCAA tournament half way through the year. But they will prolly get the third seed and miss out on the 1st or 2nd seed by only a couple games……….making those couple games they lost HUGE……..because now instead of playing Boston or Chicago in the 2nd round with Home Court Advantage……they now have to play either Boston or Chicago in the 2nd round without home court advantage. And you can now look back at 2 games or in some cases even one game and say man if they would have just won that game back in November they would have had home court advantage in Round 2. But in college there is no way to know what might have been……..you can’t look back at Syracuse’s schedule and say oh well if Syracuse would have won those two games earlier in the year they would have for sure received a 1 seed in the tournament…….making Regular Season games in college less significant because you will never know the exact impact of those games, because in college basketball humans decide where each team will be placed.
Another example……….in the NBA’s Western Conference we know that the road to the Finals is gonna go through San Antonio……you are going to have to beat them in Texas to get to the Finals we know that……..however in the NCAA tourney the road to the Final Four is basically the same for everyone there really is no difference in getting a 1 seed or getting a 2 or 3 seed because there is no home court advantage……..and because of that the Regular Season in College Basketball is diminished.
One could also look at the fact that top seeds in the NBA are more difficult to get than top seeds in the NCAA………..Here’s what I mean…….there are 4 of each seeds in the NCAA tourney so each team comes into the season with 4 possibilities of earning a #1 seed………but my MAGIC entered the season with only one chance of getting a #1 seed…….if this was the NCAA tournament the MAGIC would still be in the running for a #1 seed……as it stands now we will most likely get a #4 seed……..again making each NBA game more important.
…….here’s my main point……..imagine for a second that there was Home Court advantage in the NCAA tournament could you imagine how much that would change the NCAA Regular Season…….who in their right mind would want to go into Cameron for a tournament game against Duke???? Just that one thing Home Court advantage makes the NBA Regular Season so much more significant than College Basketball’s Regular Season………if you’re a college team once you know your going to the tournament what exactly are you playing for???? Everybody’s road to the Final Four is the same and everybody’s road to the Final Four is just as tuff.
……….you can argue all you want but it comes down to one point that can’t be disputed……..the seeds in the NBA playoffs are more important than the seeds in the NCAA tournament……by in large making the NBA Regular Season more important than the NCAA Regular Season

NBA vs. NCAA III
Why is the NBA better than College Basketball???
The NBA's players are more marketable
The NBA has always known how to market it's sport even since the early days of George Mikan players seemed larger than life . You could very easily make a case that the NBA is the best marketed sport in America........in fact most would say it is
A lot of it has to do with the fact that basketball is so easy to market.......you see close ups of players faces all the time on TV.......fans sit within arms distance of the players.......and the best player on a basketball team is just very easy to point out
.....let's take a long at other sports and see how they market their athletes
......Boxing......dead
.......NHL.........nobody cares about
.......MLB.........people care less and less about Major League Baseball.....especially young people......and they just overall do a poor job selling their product......take the whole showing World Series games at like 10 o clock at night
.......NFL........they prolly do the second best job at marketing their sport and selling their players......cept it's hard cause of how the sport is.......they all wear helmets so sometimes you don't know what they look like......and it can seem like sometimes you are far away from the action.......they do however do a great job marketing their Quarterbacks
......NASCAR.......does a great job marketing.......but let's be honest here we all know NASCAR is not a sport lol
now as I said even since the old days the NBA has done a SUPERB job selling their sport and their athletes to the public.......in the 80's we had the introduction to Larry Bird and Magic Johnson two figures that dominated the sports scene for that decade.
then the 90's Jordan took over good Lord did he take over........I mean Jordan was every where........he was in movies, he was in McDonalds ads, he sold Gatorade, he sold Wheaties, he sold golf apparel, he sold clothes, everybody wanted to be like Mike........in fact the man was so well marketed that even to this day years after his retirement he is still makes more money than almost any other athlete on just endorsements and advertisements and etc.
......and even today the NBA is more marketable than ever and we see the NBA and it's players every where we go from Dwight's smile to Nowitzki hangin out with Hasselhoff to Tony Parker marrying and now divorcing Eva Longoria to Carmelo dominating all the sports headlines the last month to John Wall having his own song about him (as terrible as the song is) to Blake Griffin jumpin over Kias to the Lakers and Kobe Bryant and how we feel like we know the life of Kobe Bryant better than his parents do
I went on a mission trip to Philadelphia back in 2001 when Iverson was in his prime in the NBA.......and let me tell you in the streets of Philly every single kid looked the same they had on an Iverson jersey and their hair was in cornrows because that is what Allen Iverson looked like
What college player has ever had a picture of him draped over a building
And of course I type in the word decision to Google and what's the first thing that pops up.........you guessed it .......that's crazy
.......and of course whether you thought that whole thing was stupid or if you disagreed with it or you didn't watch it or whatever there is one thing you can't deny.........it was HUGE news
...............................Now let's take a look at how the NCAA markets it's players
.........umm well the NCAA doesn't really market it's players........why because the NCAA doesn't really allow that sort of thing hmm
.........now of course Mr. Boring NCAA super fan will find someway to turn this into a bad thing.......oh well I don't want my players on commercials, or that's ok the NBA players are just greedy, or I just like everything to be boring ........and that's fine you can choose to not like this but you can't choose to disagree because this one isn't even a comparison
The NBA markets it's players better than the NCAA does
and I leave you with the sports clip o the day

Why is the NBA better than the NCAA???
The NBA has more superstars than College Basketball
I'll keep this short and simple
Give me your top five superstars in college basketball........
........Jimmer Fredette, Jared Sullinger, Harrison Barnes, Kimba Walker, and I don't know Kyle Singer/Nolan Smith lol
now I'll give you the top five superstars in the NBA
.........Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, Dwayne Wade, Dwight Howard, and Derrick Rose........I don't know I just threw that list together in like 1.7 seconds
.........seriously there is no comparison here.......and this is just a top 5.......Who knows how lopsided this thing would look if we did like a top 20 Superstars or something ugh
..........and of course College Basketball players will wine oh oh um I don't even like Superstars lol right........cause everyone loves watching a bunch of lame'os play basketball lol
.........here's your video o the day........nobody will prolly appreciate this cept me lol but I think this man is hilarious
"well I'm not a big yankee fan, it kinda like livin in ancient Rome and cheerin for the Lions" HAHAHAHAHH

NBA vs. NCAA II
When was the last time you were watching a College Basketball game and one team went up by a dozen or so points, and you turned the game off because you knew the other team wasn't coming back and the game was over......in fact that dozen point lead prolly swelled to 20 points and then 30 points while you weren't watching.
Now when was the last time you were watching an NBA game and you saw a team get down by double digits sometimes even 20 plus points only to see that team successfully comeback to tie or take the lead.......oh wait I can think of a time just recently when that happened HAHA.........that's right my MAGIC just recently went on a 40-9 run against the Miami Heat........in fact one of the big stories this year has been all the leads that the Heat have blown........and that's not because the Heat are necessarily doing anything wrong......it has more to do with the fact that
NBA teams often make significant runs while college teams DON'T
It's well known across the NBA world that big significant runs are just apart of NBA Basketball.......no NBA team is ever out of a game.......anyone who has watched a lot of the NBA knows this and isn't really surprised when an NBA team comes back from a large deficit
what's that you say college fan.........yea yea yea we know all about Duke's comeback at Maryland......down 10 with a minute left and they came back to win in Overtime......yawn
I'll see you that game and raise you Tracy McGrady scoring 13 points in 35 seconds vs. the Spurs back in '05
whether it's a short run like T-Mac's or even Reggie Miller against the Knicks or a long run NBA teams are constantly pumping out HUGE significant runs to get back in the game.
Every single night in the NBA you will find a team down significant points only to come back and make it a game just when everything looks bleak.........it's just a normal part of the NBA
...........also included is this sports clip of the day cause I know how much everyone is missing Iverson

NBA > NCAA I
There are more buzzer beaters in the NBA than in College Basketball
Before I begin let me first throw out this disclaimer just so everyone realizes I don't HATE College Basketball........well at least not all of it
........the NCAA Tournament is the GREATEST I repeat the GREATEST sporting event in the history of the world
now then let's begin........what's your favorite College Basketball buzzer beater of all time (props to you if it's not a March Madness buzzer beater)
.......here's mine.....I know I know totally cliche this is like everybody's fav......but for me this basket represented a lot......I was a Freshmen in High School and even back then I was just about as INSANE as I am now when it comes to sports.......this was also the first year that I had filled out a bracket........understand that March Madness was not quite as mad as it is now........I mean now basically everyone in America fills out a bracket.......back then it was really just the really big sports fans..........and even then we didn't have any fancy online bracket to fill out no way
in fact I printed out a bracket for all of my friends to fill out I would give them a blank bracket and in exchange they would give me 10 bucks, they would fill out a bracket and then hand it back to me.......I kept everyone's bracket and made all the changes by hand......and then if you wanted an update on how you were doing you had to come find me in the hallway or something HAHA
but anyway that shot was beyond EPIC......perfectly drawn up and executed.......it also basically got Bryce Drew into the NBA haha........and I can remember it was one of the early games I had just gotten home from school in time to watch I don't know the last 6 minutes or so.......but yea deff. my fav. College buzzer beater of all time
ok moving right along.......what's your favorite NBA buzzer beater of all time........I'm particularly fond of this one........I watched it live and went bonkers when it happened
If I were to tell your casual sports fan that there are more buzzer beaters in the NBA than in College Basketball they would think I am crazy.........that's because the casual sports fan or even your typical old white guy that can't stand the NBA never really watches that much of the NBA........but what your casual sports fan does see is March Madness and especially any buzzer beater that happens in March Madness
You see March Madness has exploded over the past decade to the point where anything that happens in the tournament is magnified and so anytime there is a buzzer beater it is all over ESPN and all over the news and we see it replayed about 34 times........and because your basically guaranteed to get a couple buzzer beaters every year in the tourney your casual sports fan is under the impression that buzzer beaters in College Basketball happen ALL THE TIME
Howeva......I am here to present you three basically factual reasons why there are WAY more buzzer beaters in the NBA than in College Basketball
and let's be honest there's really no chance you college lovers will be able to refute these
1) The players in the NBA are better at basketball lol naturally.....thus making it more ideal for them to execute down the stretch during quick hitters which are called in late game buzzer beating situations.......I mean in the past decade Kobe Bryant prolly has more buzzer beaters then every Division I team combined lol........also along those same lines NBA players are much more experienced and therefore more qualified to execute and hit a buzzer beater than a college player
.....think about it this way.......would you rather have this Kevin Durant in a last second situation of a basketball game or this Kevin Durant in a last second situation of a basketball game.....the choice is pretty clear to me......so since there are more talented and more experienced basketball players in the NBA there are also more buzzer beaters in the NBA
2) The whole first half of the College Basketball season is CUPCAKE city..........seriously tryna find a close College Basketball game in November or December is like tryna find a needle in a hay sack........much less a buzzer beater......it just makes sense if for the whole first half of the season all the good teams basically only play really bad teams then none of those games are gonna be close......and if none of those games are close then you won't have any buzzer beaters.......where as in the NBA the drop off between good teams and bad teams are not that vast and thus you will have more opportunities for buzzer beaters because the margin of victory isn't as great
.....now sure come Conference play the average margin of victory slims down quite a bit and is actually pretty close to the NBA's averge margin of victory......but still it's kinda hard to make up for lost time when that lost time is basically the entire first half of the season
3) And the #1 reason there are more buzzer beaters in the NBA than in College Basketball is very simple.......THE RULES ALLOW FOR IT........you see in College Basketball when you call a timeout late in the game you still have to take the ball out under your own basket......where as in the NBA you have the option of taking the ball out in the front court.......think about it......that's HUGE......if there is 2 seconds left in a College Basketball game the best shot your prolly gonna get off is a desperation heave from beyond half court
where as in the NBA you got 2 seconds left you call a time out set up a play to run in the front court and you can do all kinds of stuff.......2 seconds is enough time to catch the ball take a dribble and take a very makeable jump shot.......therefore because the opportunity to make a buzzer beater is greater in the NBA we should not only expect but we do get more buzzer beaters in the NBA than in College Basketball
......I mean how many times have you seen in the NBA where a guy hits a presumable game winner with under or around 3 seconds left on the clock only to see the other team get a great shot at the basket or in some cases get a great shot at the basket and then deliver the 'real' game winner
.......here's a fairly good example of that lol
Before I begin let me first throw out this disclaimer just so everyone realizes I don't HATE College Basketball........well at least not all of it
........the NCAA Tournament is the GREATEST I repeat the GREATEST sporting event in the history of the world

.......here's mine.....I know I know totally cliche this is like everybody's fav......but for me this basket represented a lot......I was a Freshmen in High School and even back then I was just about as INSANE as I am now when it comes to sports.......this was also the first year that I had filled out a bracket........understand that March Madness was not quite as mad as it is now........I mean now basically everyone in America fills out a bracket.......back then it was really just the really big sports fans..........and even then we didn't have any fancy online bracket to fill out no way
in fact I printed out a bracket for all of my friends to fill out I would give them a blank bracket and in exchange they would give me 10 bucks, they would fill out a bracket and then hand it back to me.......I kept everyone's bracket and made all the changes by hand......and then if you wanted an update on how you were doing you had to come find me in the hallway or something HAHA
but anyway that shot was beyond EPIC......perfectly drawn up and executed.......it also basically got Bryce Drew into the NBA haha........and I can remember it was one of the early games I had just gotten home from school in time to watch I don't know the last 6 minutes or so.......but yea deff.

NBA vs. NCAA
So due to high demand I have finally decided to give the people what they want.............It's the return of CYspace
I know I know try and contain yourself.........now sure it's not like the return of Jordan or anything.......but it's at least on par with Steve Kerr making his return to the announcing booth after his brief stint as a GM.
I will start things off with a series of blogs sure to make every boring fuddy duddy fake defense loving college basketball fan very pissed off and angrily defending their beloved Basketball
Look for the first post of the series entitled "15 reasons the NBA is better than the NCAA" either tonight or tomorrah afternoon..........depending of course on how much trouble my son gives me tonight lol
It's an argument that I've had with plenty of people for the past year or so and it's high past time I get this argument into full motion.........prepare to be proven wrong college basketball lovers.......let's go
